If you are searching for a wedding colour palette that feels colourful and vibrant, orange and purple could be a beautiful paring.
Orange and purple is an unexpected colour pairing but that is what makes it so beautiful. Orange brings energy and a little playfulness, while lavender purple feels romantic and grounded. Together, they create a palette with plenty of character.
At the heart of the floral design for this wedding were marigolds and thistles – flowers chosen to tell the story of the couple and their heritage.
Orange marigolds which are deeply woven into Indian culture, sat alongside Scotland’s national flower, creating a floral ‘thread’ that connected two families and cultures.
We softened the palette with cream, blush and pale yellows so the orange and purple could really sing, with plenty of greenery for a natural look.
Texture played just as important a role as colour. Delicate Icelandic poppies danced among ruffled roses and peonies, while fuzzy, spiky echinops, cirsium and eryngium added contrast and movement.
For their intimate civil ceremony, attended by immediate family in the private library at Thirlestane Castle, a large flower bowl created the focal point. Afterwards, it was repurposed for the sweetheart table at the wedding breakfast, allowing the flowers to become part of another chapter of the day.
Around the room, each guest table had an urn filled with flowers, with bud vases behind the couple adding smaller touches of colour and texture.
So if you love something a little unexpected and a little wild, orange and purple could be the perfect choice.
